Jeep Thermostat
A thermostat is a small device that is used in the cooling system of the Jeep
vehicle. This apparatus sits in between the engine and the radiator. The purpose
of the Jeep thermostat is to regulate the flow of the coolant from the radiator.
When the engine is cool enough, no coolant will pass through the thermostat. The
valve will only be open when the engine temperature is in the required operating
temperature which is typically at about 95 degrees Celsius.

Significantly, Jeep thermostat aids in preventing any part in the engine to
wear out easily, keeping the entire system work efficiently. It also reduces any
coolant deposit from the engine block and thus decreases possible production of
harmful exhaust gas.
Thermostat is a remarkable small device which is about 2 inches in height. The
Jeep thermostat is typically filled with a wax that melts when the temperature
reaches at 180 degrees Fahrenheit. A rod which is connected to the valve presses
into the wax causing it to melt. When the substance is melted, it expands drastically
and pushes the rod out of its small cylinder. This process opens the valve of
the thermostat to allow the liquid coolant to flow through the radiator hoses
and reach the engine to begin the cooling process.
Various engine uses different types of thermostat, this is why you need to check
your owners’ manual first before replacing your worn out thermostat. Overheated
engine, faulty water pump and coolant leakage are mainly the most common results
of a faulty thermostat. So, it is critical to let your Jeep thermostat to be inspected
regularly to avoid these problems from occurring.
