Jeep Trunk Strut
The trunk strut is basically used to keep the rear hood up when you have to put
or get something. If the cover of your trunk wants to fall towards you when you
want to keep it open, this is an indication that your trunk strut is starting
to fail and needs to be replaced. Jeep trunk struts are somewhat similar to the
strut that is used on the suspension system. The only difference is the size,
in which the trunk strut is far smaller than those used for the suspension system.
In replacing a trunk strut, it must be done in pairs to provide equal lift in
the both ends of the trunk. This will also ensure that the new trunk strut will
not wear prematurely and thus making its life longer. Removing the old strut of
your Jeep vehicle trunk is easy and does not requires any special tool. You just
need locking pliers, small flat blade screw driver, 10mm wrench, and a hammer,
and then you’re up for the task.
Open the trunk all the way up for you to access the trunk strut easier. Using
the locking pliers, clamp one of the worn out strut to hold the trunk lid open
while you are working. Loosen one by one the existing struts using a wrench and
replace it with a new one.
Jeep trunk strut is an important part of the trunk lid to keep it always up
in times that you need to access the rear cargo area. Some Jeep trunk struts are
made to perfectly fit a specific Jeep model. This will ensure that the efficiency
of the strut will not be compromised.
